God has richly blessed “Pastor Mike” with many talents, gifts, and responsibilities. He currently serves as Pastor for the Coppin Chapel A.M.E. Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dr. Carson has served the pastorates of Union Memorial A.M.E. Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church in Kokomo, Indiana, Alexander Chapel A.M.E. Church in Evansville, Indiana, and Bethel A.M.E. Church in Mount Vernon, Indiana. He served on the ministerial staffs of Saint Stephen A.M.E. Church in Chicago, Illinois, Ebenezer A.M.E. Church and Wheadon U.M.C. in Evanston, Illinois, and Bethel A.M.E. Church in Richmond, Indiana.
Mike holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary Dayton, Ohio, a Master of Divinity Degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary Evanston, Illinois, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana, and a Diploma from Hammond High School Hammond, Indiana. He received his training in Clinical Pastoral Education from Bethany Hospital Chicago, Illinois. He completed the Lake Michigan College (Benton Harbor, Michigan) Community Leadership Academy.
He serves as a Chaplain for the Howard County, Indiana Sherriff’s Department. He has served as a Deputy Chaplain for the Berrien County, Michigan Sherriff’s Department and has served as the Chaplain for the Lake Michigan Admirals ABA Basketball Team Benton Harbor, Michigan. Carson was one of the founding members of the Chaplaincy Program for the Kokomo, Indiana Fire Department and also served as an On-call Chaplain for Welborn Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
He has served as a member of the Michigan Annual Conference Board of Examiners Ministerial Training Program and as Chairperson/Dean for the Indiana Annual Conference Board of Examiners Ministerial Training Program
Currently he serves as President for the Central Indiana Ministerial Alliance. He served as President for the Southwest Michigan A.M.E. Church Ministerial Alliance and Treasurer for the Southwest Michigan Ministerial Alliance. He served as a member of the Berrien County, Michigan Association of Churches. He served as a member of the ADELPHOS Ministerial Alliance in Kokomo, Indiana.
Carson serves as a member of the Community College Surgical Technology Advisory Committee for Ivy Tech State College in Kokomo, Indiana. He has served as a Field Education Site Supervisor for McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. He has served as a Doctor of Ministry Independent Study Mentor and Adjunct Professor (Sociology of the Urban Church) for Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. He has served as Professor of Preaching and Worship for the W.T. Burton Institute in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He has served as an Adjunct Professor for Ivy Tech State College in Kokomo, Indiana (Philosophy of Religion, Psychology, Sociology, and Diversity Courses), Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana (Black Methodist History and Polity), Simmons Bible College in Kokomo, Indiana (Social Welfare and the Church), Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio (Theology, Pastoral Care, Preaching and Worship, Old and New Testaments, Philosophy of Religion), and Indiana University at Kokomo in Kokomo, Indiana (Old and New Testaments).
Mike is a Certified Indoor Cycling Instructor teaches for the Kokomo Indiana Y.M.C.A. and has taught for the Benton Harbor/Saint Joseph Michigan Y.M.C.A. in Saint Joseph, Michigan and the Renaissance Athletic Club (RAC), in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Mike has been the featured cover story and the featured cover story along with his wife Catherine for the Blessed Gospel Magazine published in South Bend, Indiana. He serves as Religion Columnist for the “He Reigns Gospel Magazine” Kalamazoo, Michigan, The “Blessed Gospel Magazine” South Bend, Indiana, and The “Benton Michiana Spirit Community Newspaper” Benton Harbor, Michigan/South Bend, Indiana. He has served as a Columnist for The “Kokomo Tribune Newspaper” in Kokomo, Indiana since 1991. He contributes to a number of periodicals and papers.
Dr. Carson served as the Editor for Why Would a Child Lie? Enduring and Overcoming Eight Years of Incestual Abuse by Rose R. Williams and Roads to Glory by Patricia A. Bell-Hurse.
Carson served the host and producer for “The Claiming Your Victory” Broadcast on WVBH 105.3 FM Benton Harbor, Michigan. He served as host and producer for “The Claiming Your Victory” Broadcast and producer for “The Word of Faith” Broadcast WZWZ 92.5 FM Kokomo, Indiana. He also served as a Radio Personality for WECI 91.5 FM: Richmond, Indiana.
He has served as a member of the Southwest Michigan Children & Family Services Board of Directors (Benton Harbor, Michigan) and the Southwest Michigan Young Life Board of Directors, The Benton Harbor/St. Joseph Rotary Club, and The NAACP. He served as a Commissioner for the Kokomo (Indiana) Housing Authority, a Varsity Assistant Coach for the Kokomo (Indiana) High School Boys Basketball Team, an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator and Counselor for PEER Services Incorporated in Evanston, Illinois. He founded the Boys and Girls Mentoring Program and the “Family Matters Series” in Kokomo, Indiana.
Carson served as a Visiting Spiritual Director for Bonaventure House (a residence for persons living with HIV/AIDS) in Chicago, Illinois. He serves as a Conflict Resolution Consultant/Trainer for High School & Junior High School Students and served as a Staff Development Facilitator for the Evanston/Skokie, Illinois School District 65 at Kingsley School. He serves as a Spiritual and Life Skills Director, Diversity Trainer/Facilitator, and a Conflict Resolution Consultant/Trainer.
